Russian professional tennis player Maria Sharapova was born on April 19, 1987 in Nyagan, Soviet Union. She is a former World No. 1 in professional tennis and in 2008, she was ranked third in the world as a female tennis player. After she turned professional in 2001, she began to conquer the world of tennis after her grand slam in Wimbledon, US Open and Australian Open. She also received various awards such as 2004 WTA Player of the Year, 2005 & 2007 ESPY Best Female Tennis Player, ESPN Hottest Female Athlete and named the January 2008 female Athlete of the month by US Sports Academy.
