Salma Hayek, a Mexican actress, was born on September 2, 1966 in Coatzacoalcos, Mexico. She's the daughter of Spanish Diana Jimenez, an opera singer and Lebanese Sami Hayek, an oil company executive. In 1989 Salma landed the title role in a successful Mexian telenovela "Teresa" and in 1994, she starred in the film "El Callejon de los Milagros", which is considered as the most successful Mexican movie in terms of awards. Salma later moved to Los Angeles, California to study acting under Stella Adler in hoping for a career in Hollywood. In 1995, Robert Rodriguez and his wife Elizabeth Avellan gave her a big break when she starred in Antonio Banderas' movie "Desperado".
