Cheryl Ann Tweedy, born on June 30 1983 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, is an English singer and member of girl group called Girls Aloud. She's has been front-page news since 2002 when she beat out thousands of other aspiring singers to earn a place in the popular girl group. Since then, the Girls Aloud singer has commanded the media’s attention due to her romance with English footballer named Ashley Cole, her war of words with Charlotte Church, and her unfortunate assault of a toilet attendant in 2003.

Luckily, Tweedy has managed to secure plenty of good press as well, thanks to the success of Girls Aloud. The group released platinum-selling albums, including Sound of the Underground, What Will the Neighbours Say?, Chemistry, and The Sound of Girls Aloud, and their songs have also appeared in the films Love Actually (2003) and Freaky Friday (2003).

Daughter of a Zimbabwean mother and a British father, Thandie started her career in film in the 1991 Australian movie Flirting, which is also a launch pad of her friend and co-actress Nicole Kidman. Thandie was raised in Zambia and Perzance, Cornwall and educated at Downing College, University of Cambridge.
